When baked and still warm, Marie's Fluffy Zopf unfolds its full aromas. Enjoy it with some strawberry jam or good butter. Are you more of a chocolate lover? Then indulge in fine Nougat cream!

1. Prepare the dough with approx. 130 ml lukewarm milk, 35g butter, and 1 egg, let it rise for at least 45 minutes.
2. Preheat the oven (top/bottom heat: 200 °C/ convection: 175 °C).
3. Knead the dough again, divide it into three equal portions.
4. Shape each into about 55 cm long rolls, overlap the ends, tuck the outer rolls under the middle, and press everything together.
5. Braid a loose Zopf with the three dough strands. Press the ends together at the end.
6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
7. Place the Hefezopf diagonally on it and let it rise for another 20-25 minutes in a warm place.
8. Then mix 1/2 egg yolk and 1 tbsp milk, brush the Hefezopf with it, and sprinkle with pearl sugar.
9. Bake in a hot oven for about 25 minutes.
10. Possibly cover with aluminum foil 10 minutes before the end of baking time. Then remove and let it cool.
